Make Time and Take Action

When most people start a new exercise program, diet, or anything new for that matter, they often miss the most crucial and most important step to making sure that it is going to work, and it has nothing to do with the program or diet itself.
Your first step should be starting out with making time for this new program and what action steps will ensure you do it. It doesn’t matter how good an exercise program or diet is, if you don’t actually do it, and do it consistently, it’s useless.
Making time is putting the task into your schedule ahead of time so that what needs to get done, gets done. Making time declares that YOU matter and is a commitment to you and your goals, priorities and values.
Taking action is doing a small task each day that moves you towards your goals. We like to wait for motivation to come before we take action but it often works the other way around. Take action and the motivation will follow. This small action could be something like setting your workout clothes out the night before.
Often all we have to do is get started, push through those first few minutes and we are off to the races. How many times have you not felt like doing a workout but did it anyways and by the end felt great and were glad you did it? Action is empowering, satisfying and creates momentum.
These two tasks make everything else possible.
The path to your goal will almost never be a straight line or come easy. Life gets crazy sometimes. Treat unexpected challenges as normal, because they are. You should expect and plan for things to not always go as planned rather than letting it get you off track.
Make some time to take the first steps towards making your exercise program work by making time in your schedule for your workouts and planning some small action steps you can take each day to help build momentum towards reaching your goals!
