HOW IT STARTED…
Established in May of 1986, I (Gino Spada), at the age of 26 and with a passion for fitness, opened G&M Fitness Health Club in my home town of Port Colborne, Ontario. Having started lifting weights at the age of 16, by the time G&M Fitness was established, I already had 10 years experience with weightlifting and physical fitness. It has always been my objective to provide Port Colborne and the surrounding areas with an exemplary health club service.
In May 2006, my son Matt came on board full time and we truly became G&M again. Now, with over 60 combined years of experience between the two of us, multiple certifications and a warm, clean, welcoming and caring atmosphere, those attributes have made this club “the place to go” for all fitness needs. To this day, we continue to be the leaders in fitness in this quaint little jewel of a town even after 40 years in business.
OUR PHILOSOPHY…
At G&M Fitness we believe that your health is your most important asset. Without it, what do you really have? Often times we let other things take priority in our lives and we neglect our own health. The reality is, that with optimal health, we will be able to perform better at tasks, at work, with our families, have more energy and strength, and be a more positive person overall.
We start all of our members off with an orientation program that works on building strength and increasing cardiovascular efficiency while encouraging consistency of their workouts over the quantity of their workouts; however that would fit into their schedule.
